Computer (2K)This course provides the student with the basic skills to operate a computer. It helps them to learn and understand the computer and its environment. It covers basic terminology associated with computer hardware and software.

The student develops the necessary skills to enter and manipulate text using a word-processing package. They will acquire the necessary skills needed to use the Internet.

This is a one-year course and students attend class for two hours each week. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, students progress and learn from one another, with no pressure on the student to sit exams. The course Tutor is very friendly and will help in any way possible.

Students learn five Assignments:

  • Introduction to Information Technology
  • Introduction to Data Entry/Keyboard
  • Introduction to Word Processing
  • Introduction to the Internet
  • Introduction to File Management

Taking Exams in IT Skills

Each assignment carries a mark of 20%. The Tutor sets the first three assignments on specific dates and all students sit these exams together. The last two assignments, four and five, are carried out in class when the student feels he/she is ready.

Students are under no pressure to take exams, some students just wish to learn how to use the computer and have fun doing so, others want to take the exams and are well able to do so when finishing the different assignments.
