"Working with a team, I found it very interesting
to learn all the different types of weeds and pests and also the different
types of chemicals that were used."
"Different varieties of crops, which were planted. Difference

"The module on developing my own horticultural garden
was very interesting informative and enjoyable. This was my first experience
of actually growing vegetables and the end result was very satisfying.
As this was my first attempt. I followed a very structured plan and this
I believe was the key to success."
"Firstly I researched the subject thoroughly, both from written
material and from discussing this with our tutor. Once I had gathered
all of the information, I put together an organised plan, with specific
steps over a defined period and to a large degree stuck with this throughout
the process."
"It was marvellous to see my practical skills developing in tandem
with a plan and a coherent effort put in. From a position of having known
anything to a position of having grown and developed the vegetables was
very rewarding. Suffice to say that the end justified the means."
"Giving that the project was non organic and getting a terrific
result. I would now like to devote some time to the production of organic
vegetables. This is now what I like to pursue personally."

"The horticulture was enlightening and enjoyable,
although the assignments required a good deal of time and effort. The
time spent in the garden was relatively short due to bad weather."

"I joined the course in September but because of
home commitments I was unable to take on the full course. Never the less
I attended the lectures and got the notes. During the winter it was difficult
to consider the prospect of growing anything, but in the spring everything
changed."
"I was allocated a patch of ground to plant. The digging was
hard, and the ground (which in my opinion very poor and stony) did not
present as encouraging from a growing point of view. We tested the soil
for moisture content, and were given the choice of using artificial fertiliser
or not."
"We helped to put up the tunnel and planted the seed in trays.
I eventually planted Potatoes, Peas, Lettuce, Onions, and Beetroot. AND
THEY GREW. This was the first time that I ever planted anything .It was
a most rewarding experience. I have my own garden, so far I have grown
Peas, Lettuce, and various flowers from seed."
